What Estate Sales Will Look Like in 2021

Throughout the last 12+ months, events of all shapes and sizes have been postponed, cancelled, or modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Concerts performed in front of socially-distanced audiences, sports played in front of no audience, show choir performances being cancelled all together. The list goes on.

With a rather niche audience for estate sales, you may not have noticed how few there have been the last year. Having to cancel or postpone estate sales has had a tremendous effect on individuals and families not being able to downsize or part ways with their late family member’s belongings. The good news is that’s about to change in 2021!

You may have already seen signs up around your neighborhood and community for garage sales and estate sales. Look for that trend to continue and increase as more people are vaccinated or just feel more comfortable being around small groups of people.

Politics aside, it’s important to still take precautions when planning an estate sale for the health and safety of your family members, neighbors, and local at-risk individuals. Here are a few precautions that we take when planning your estate sale:

  • Set a limit on the number of individuals in the estate sale at the same time

  • Provide a box of free disposable masks at the entrance

  • Hold an online auction instead with a in-person preview of items
